A recent study conducted by Science Direct suggests that women who are lonely share more personal information on Facebook compared to women who are not lonely.

Depending on the depth and duration of their lonely spell, you could be seeing a lot of her posts on fakebook (we mean Facebook,) that for some reason, draws you in.

But why?

Dear Men,

Is it because you sense her loneliness and feel summoned to fill the void in her life? Before you become Superman and save her from her misery, make sure that she’s not subconsciously casting a spell on you.

The problem with Facebook and other social media sites is that people don’t necessarily show the world (ahem, the Facebook world) who they really are, but rather other Facebook users tend to see a side of the person posting — not the actual person. It’s equivalent to opening a book and reading the first page, a random page in the middle, and the last page — obviously, you’re not getting the whole story, just a glimpse.

While that insight may intrigue you, there are some serious red flags that you need to look out for, and if you have women in your Facebook newsfeed who are going to these extremes, do yourself a favor — hide them before it’s too late:

5. Drama, Drama, Drama! Does the women in question post frequent status updates that need further explanation? For example, “OMG! You will not believe what just happened to me!” … And then … Yeah, our thoughts exactly. Or, does she post a daily selfie, because hey … the world might not turn the right way if Facebook doesn’t get a glimpse of how she looks today? She’s looking for attention, and guess what … even if you give her some attention, it won’t be enough. She wants attention from everyone. Hide and move on.

4. Low Self-Esteem. Having low self-esteem is one thing, writing status updates about how fat she looks or how badly she needs a nose job is a serious red flag. She can’t be helped.

3. Lush! There’s a big difference between having a fun night out on the town with some friends and being a sloppy drunk every night. What could be worse than the latter? Hmm … posting status updates and selfie’s showing just how inebriated she is. Again, hide her!

2. Ex-drama! Ex’s, who needs them? If you see a girl on your newsfeed who is still talking about her ex-boyfriend, it’s a clear indication that she’s no where near over him yet. Don’t try to swoop in and show her how great of a guy you are. It won’t work, trust us. If anything, she will just punish you for the things her ex did to her.
