Boy meets girl at an outdoor party. Girl asks, “Are you alone?” Boy says, “Yeah.”

It’s short and to the point, but that’s the basic storyline of “Yeah,” the latest single from Joe Nichols.

Now Nichols has released a music video for the song. Directed by Wes Edwards (who also directed Dierks Bentley’s “Drunk on a Plane” video), it gives the already good-natured song a fun, upbeat treatment by having the boy-meets-girl story unfold in comic-book form. The characters are introduced in single panels, with the dialogue in bubbles. Then the little narrative moves forward page-by-page, mixing live shots with animation.

Nichols appears intermittently, too, in front of a sign that spells out the name of the song. It’s not exactly a subtle visual cue, but that’s the point. It’s a story told in comic-book form, after all. Watch it below.

“Yeah” is the second single from Nichols’ album Crickets. It was released on the heels of the singer’s recent No. 1 hit “Sunny and 75.”
