"I just Googled 'cool bar in New York.' I did not expect this many people to come out."

While doing the press rounds in New York City, last night Jake Owen decided to personally give five lucky fans a copy of his brand-new album Days of Gold, which just hit stores today (Dec. 3).

Late yesterday, Owen took to Twitter to tell any and all fans who might be in the area to meet him at a yet-to-be-determined bar to get a copy of his album hours before its release.

He next tweeted out the name of the place (Rattle N Hum on E 33rd St.), and in less than an hour, the first five fans had made it to the bar and received their copies.

While the five CDs were given away quickly, that didn’t stop others from showing up all night in hopes to grab a beer with the singer and a photo opp. Some fans drove in from points outside Manhattan, while others were in town on business but happened to check their Twitter accounts at the right time.

“He’s just so down to earth,” Renee from Kentucky said after talking with the country singer. After her colleague saw Owen’s tweet, they made their way to Rattle N Hum. She was hoping to get an autograph for her daughter while there. Later that evening she did, after Owen signed several press photos of himself for fans.

Another fan sped her way from New Jersey to request a photo and handwritten quote from Owen, which she plans to have made into a tattoo. Over the summer he had tweeted that ‘Summer never ends,’ which he wrote down for her to later be inked.

Owen planned the night himself, and he was surprised at the turnout.

“I just Googled ‘cool bar in New York.’ I did not expect this many people to come out,” Owen told Radio.com.

In between watching football (the New Orleans Saints vs. the Seattle Seahawks), and cheering for touchdowns and interceptions by the Seahawks, Owen mingled with fans, took photos and shared beers and shots.

After nearly five hours at the bar, Owen parted ways, but not before he went up to every person who came and thanked them.

Jake Owen’s Days of Gold is out today.
