‘The Voice’ Contestants Have Figured Blake Shelton’s Winning Streak Is Over

The blind auditions continue tonight on The Voice on NBC, and Blake Shelton admits he had a tough time putting his team together this season.

He’s won the last three seasons and he told the Today Show’s Savannah Guthrie, “Honestly, I had a hard time getting people to come with me this year on my team, and Adam had some good points … he threw out some stuff about the NBA and about how nobody’s ever won four of anything in a row. I can’t remember what the stats were but he actually got in some of these people’s heads and stole a lot of people from me.”

Whether it’s because contestants figured his winning streak has to come to an end at some point, or because the other judges made more compelling arguments, a lot of contestants that Blake really wanted got away from him during the pre-recorded blind auditions, although he reminded everyone that he still has the upcoming knockout rounds to steal contestants from the other judges.

Blake joked with Kathie Lee and Hoda on Today that the people who did agree to join his team did so because he likes to have fun and because, “They know I’m probably gonna be drunk and passed out during rehearsals anyway, and they’re like, ‘I can do whatever I want so I’m gonna pick him.’”

The blind auditions on The Voice will continue through next Tuesday, October 8th, and then the knockout rounds will begin on October 14th.
