Randy Travis underwent surgery last night (July 10) after suffering a stroke. The latest update from the Heart Hospital at Baylor Plano, where the country artist is being treated, states that “Mr. Randy Travis is out of surgery and in critical condition.”

Earlier in the evening, Travis’s publicist Kirt Webster issued the following statement on his condition:
“As a complication of his congestive heart failure, Mr. Randy Travis has suffered a stroke and is currently undergoing surgery to relieve pressure on his brain. He is in critical condition. We will have updates as they become available. His family and friends here with him at the hospital request your prayers and support.”

This development came after two of Travis’s doctors released a video and a statement to the press yesterday stating that his condition was showing “signs of improvement.”

Travis was admitted Sunday (July 7) after “suffering from complications of recently acquired viral cardiomyopathy.”
