Scotty McCreery is being sued by his former manager. Todd Cassetty filed suit in Davidson County, Tennessee last week claiming the former American Idol winner still owes him payment for services dating back to October of last year when their business relationship began. He is seeking actual, consequential and punitive damages.

According to The Nashville Post, Cassetty claims McCreery signed with Cassetty Entertainment but never “officially memorialized” the agreement. McCreery allegedly agreed to give Cassetty 15 percent of all gross revenue, but Judy McCreery, the singer’s mother, only wanted to give him two percent. Cassetty says McCreery “strung him along for months,” and the two parted ways in April.

At the time he signed with Cassetty, McCreery tweeted, “Pumped to have @ToddCassetty as my new manager. We’re gonna be thinking outside the box and taking my career to the next level!”

McCreery has been working on his sophomore album, which will be released in October.

The first single, called “See You Tonight,” is climbing the country charts.
