Among the thousands of fans at Detroit’s annual Downtown Hoedown this past weekend was the crew from CBS Local’s own Tailgate Fan.

Watch as outspoken Tailgate Fan host Jerry Miller wanders the crowd, hangs backstage, checks out the food, and interviews fans about their hats, their sleeveless shirts, and their favorite singers (Saturday’s headliner Jake Owen was the artist many said they were most excited to see).

Miller also hosted a Coney dog-eating contest, and he quizzed fans on their country music knowledge by asking whether titles he named were real or fake. And then he toned things down for a deep, serious talk (OK, not really) with Detroit Red Wings star Darren McCarty.

The three-day, 31st annual Downtown Hoedown was held this past weekend (May 31-June 2) in downtown Detroit. The event featured dozens of country acts including Joe NicholsJake OwenUncle KrackerCraig Morgan, Emerson Drive, Drake White, Phil VassarCasey JamesCharlie WorshamBlackberry SmokeRachel Farley, Maggie Rose, and Tate Stevens (see full festival coverage).
