As the Academy of Country Music Awards ceremony approaches, country trio Gloriana filled us in on what really happens behind the scenes at the show.

Having already taken home the ACM prize for Top New Vocal Group in 2010, the band sat down with to tell us what awards shows are really like. They also shared insight into one mishap that happened to them.

“They have seat fillers [during the ceremony], so if you do get up to go to the bathroom, you come back and there’s somebody in your seat,” Tom Gossin said. “Actually, we had a funny debacle. We couldn’t find our seat, and the show had already started, and we had an usher that was trying to help us find our seat and he was confused about where we were supposed to sit. We were those people that were like, ‘Excuse me, excuse me. Sorry.’ Everyone was having to stand up for us and it was very embarrassing. Pure Gloriana style.”

While Tom has a blast at the awards shows, Rachel Reinert told a different story. She explained why they can be stressful.

“It’s some pressure and in your heart you’re hoping you win, but it doesn’t always play out like that,” she said. “Regardless, at the end of the day to us the most important thing is the fact that we’re so grateful that we get to do what we love for a living, and we adore our fans and we adore our peers.”

Luckily for Gloriana though, an ACM worked out in their favor.

“To me, looking at that award which is in my house, and seeing that every day and being recognized for all of our hard work it is so gratifying and it’s amazing,” she said. “We’re just so grateful to be getting to do this every single day, and to be recognized is just the cherry on top.”

The 48th ACM Awards air live on CBS on Sunday, April 7.
